Standing Together

Supporters of the Prop 2 1/2 override rally
on the Town Hall steps.

The Town of Southbridge brought
about a major shock to the South-
bridge School system. Extra Curricu-
lar activities and a decrease in faculty
could have been the result in our
1990/91 school year. Our student
body gathered together on April 12,
1990, in the SHS gym to try to put a
stop to our town's drastic budget
cuts. On April 23, 1990, concerned
parents, faculty and students
marched together to the Town Hall,
led by the SMS band. Concerned stu-
dents spoke their opinions and the
SMS Show Choir displayed school
spirit on the steps of the Town Mall.
Our teachers and activities continue
to be in circulation at SMS. Everyone's
combined efforts proved we are able
to accomplish any goal - TOGETHER

in "9i".

Welcome to the 1990-91 Musket, TOGETHER in

The bell rings, and they're off! Whether it's "A" "B" or V, C"
lunch students race from their classrooms to the cafeteria.
Lunch period is looked forward to all day. For some it's a
time to relax and talk with friends. For others, it's a time to
study for an end of the day test and for most it's a time to
"chow down". Menu varies daily and depending on prefer-
ence, students will purchase one, two and sometimes
three lunches. Danielle LaFIeche says, "1 don't care if I'm
a girl and I'm supposed to eat only one lunch. I love
getting doubles!''

Above right: "You said a mouthful!". Chris Hefner is caught by the
camera as he stuffs his mouth at lunch.

Doing?

Throughout the halls of Southbridge
High at any given moment on any given
day you can find students doing a variety
of things. Some students work on as-
signments while others take time to
catch up on the latest with friends while
still others use the time to simply relax.

lockers

A Student's Sacred Space

A student's locker serves many purposes; storage for
books, clothes and other materials, as well as a place to
"hang out" between classes. For most, lockers reflect the
owner's personality, having been decorated with numer-
ous amounts of paraphernalia and memorabilia. Our lock-
ers become not only a storage compartment but our sa-
cred space.

Above: Patty Caez knows a locker is a great place for shoving
her books in after class. Tim Aucoin's locker is a place for
decoration as well as storage.

The fact that lockers are a great place to hang out is common knowledge
for Danielle LaFleche and Amelia LeBlanc.

Strike A Pose,

There's nothing

To It!

At SHS anything is possible-Throughout our fun filled
halls students have a certain rhythm and way of
presenting themselves. The students do more than walk
down the hall, they move. Each pose is a different as the
many different personalities. One word that is in the
vocab of every SMS student is style.

Striking up more than conversation, Angela Benoit gives Kelly Qeers a
friendly hug

Joelle Ferron definitely knows the technique of creative posing.

68

More than art, some students use the school furniture to suit their style
and comfort.

Does Mr. Thomas really believe he can stop Jen Graf's dancing with a wave to the camera?

Former SHS student Abigail Kendrick and current student Erica Plouffe do a little shopping to stay "in style ".

While posing can be fun and creative, this student knows sometimes "you
might as well jump."

Pioneers Destroy
Indians 22-6

Despite the cold weather and a 20 pound turkey waiting
at home, for most, the Thanksgiving Day game is tradition.
Pioneer fans give up their Lazy-boys and settle for a cold,
wooden bench and a hot chocolate, keeping the tradition
alive - Pioneers scalping the Indians. Continuing the
seasons success, the team worked together to defeat the
Indians in a smashing 22-6 victory. The game was followed
by a Victory Dance where the MVP (Jason Sawyer) and
next year's tri-captains (Eric Chamberlin, Seth
Hmielowski, and Jason Sawyer) were announced.

The Pioneers give Bartlett a new meaning to the word "pig pile"
The team works together toward a victory.

Yelling For Victory

One word that best describes SFIS
students is SPIRIT. The Thanksgiving
Day rally clearly showed the spirit
our school possesses. Finally, the
day came for all classes to show how
much spirit they had with dynamic
posters, interesting skits and
screams filled with spirit. The Fresh-
men gave us their version of They
Shrunk the Pioneers". The Sopho-
mores did their best with the
Flintstones meet the Jetsons. The
Juniors dominated for the second
year with the help of Peter Pioneer.
The Seniors went out with a bang
with "Alice in Websterland". In clos-
ing, as long as we have spirit, we can
accomplish anything TOGETHER IN
'91.
